About Us

The Roots Emporium has been a long standing idea in my brain, though not necessarily with this name. I've always wanted to share my art, to also run a business that would help people and help animals. I just didn't think it was possible for myself.

I am a queer, neurodivergent and disabled person called Morvie that grew up working class, and I'm here to say that despite all the hardships out there; I want you to be able to do what fills your heart just like I'm doing. That is another goal of the business, to be a social enterprise that promotes and supports the community and that includes allowing individuals to make their own art or doing charity events in a welcoming environment.

My mum, Inge, joined me in the endeavour in the past year and she also creates art like nature inspired sterling silver jewellery. She, too, is disabled and wholeheartedly believes in the social goals of the business as well as wanting to be able to share her own art. What better than to pair up?

Another important shout out is to my Dad, who is currently the main driver who helps us post online orders and take us to markets. We wouldn't be able to do anything without you Dad!

Now to the long term goals!
We mentioned on the home page that we want to build a sanctuary and that is the simple gist of it! We want to buy some lands, create a sanctuary for animals, a café and a shop with space for community spaces!

OUR SOCIAL GOALS
- Build a sanctuary for animals, particularly those that are elderly and sick and therefore struggle to get rehomed.
- Create community spaces that are accessible and affordable for everyone.
- Create a business that cares about the staff AND customers and encourages a healthy work life balance.
- Support rewilding projects in Scotland and do what we can on our own land once we purchase it.
